For a holiday with a real difference why not try our Yurt. Get away from conventional holiday accommodation and go for the exotic.

Our Yurt is a traditional handcrafted Mongolian Yurt following Mongolian and Kazakh designs. It stands alone in its own field under a mature oak tree complete with swing.

The Yurt is extremely private and cannot be seen from the house or road. It is large, 6 metres across and is richly decorated in traditional style a full double bed ready made up ready for you with a further double futon for sitting or to sleep two more people. There is a kitchen area with a two ring gas stove with grill. A full range of cooking utensils is supplied together with crockery and cutlery.

For those chillier nights there is a specially commissioned woodburning stove.

For your convenience we have built an eco-friendly compost toilet.

Water is brought in in containers and further supplies, if needed, can be fetched from the main house. Our water comes from our own well and is not chlorinated.

Don't worry - You are welcome to use the hot shower and flush toilets at our indoor heated swimming pool which is also available for your use.

Lighting is by means of night lights in lanterns which are supplied.

The yurt stands on a wooden deck with bbq and picnic table.

The yurt is available from May to September.

No smoking inside any of our properties.

Sorry no pets as we have sheep in an adjoining field and free range chickens and ducks around the farm.

Great Gutton Farm is a historically important Grade 2* listed property we have 21 acres of beautiful rolling hills with rich red fertile Devon soil. We have been participating in a Countryside Stewardship scheme which has included restoring old orchards and creating new ones, coppicing, hedgelaying and wildlife conservation. The redundant barns have been converted to quality self catering holiday accommodation. There is a Games room with pool table, skittle alley and table tennis table and indoor heated swimming pool. Both of these facilities are available to the yurt guests. The pool has toilets and hot shower.

There is no vehicular access to the yurts, you will leave your car in a safe car park and walk past the pond, with resident ducks, and through the orchards to the yurt. Your luggage will be transported by ATV for you. Here you will be able to enjoy all the pleasures of the great outdoors without sacrificing comfort. You will be able to lie in bed and watch the stars at night through the crown of your yurt. There is wildlife aplenty around with little owls nesting nearby, deer visiting the adjoining fields, buzzards soaring above. Watch the swallows, bats and house martins ducking and diving and at night you will spot foxes, badgers and a variety of small creatures. You will truly experience the joy of living closer to nature.

The surrounding area

Crediton is in the centre of Devon, nestled between Exmoor and Dartmoor it is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful county. Either coast is within an hours drive and the Eden project a similar distance. Many National Trust properties, historic houses, gardens, castles gorges, forges and mills can easily be accessed.

Crediton town itself boasts the well known St. Boniface church, a lively monthly Farmers Market selling locally sourced products including organic vegetables, cheeses and home produced meat. The high street has the usual shops with excellent butchers, bakery and wonderful delicatessen. There are golf courses, fishing lakes nearby or you could go rambling, karting or cycling. On the other hand you could just stay here and enjoy a piece of heaven in Devon.
